Day 13
Tuesday November 11
Late afternoon so morning off and evening off with mild excursion in between.
All this gives us the chance to have a decent sized chunk of the day where we go out into the neighbourhood, walk down to the centre of Coyocan and do some video podcast type things. We really do try to keep up with this to have one for each day we’re here but I’ll say now we don’t succeed at all. But thanks to today, and another one or two stabs, we have at least some to accompany these Diary entries.
And right, can I say this now? Today is just another day and another show. Just two weeks ago it would have been a huge deal to think we were going to be in Mexico City and play on a really quite large stage on something of a village fair day and after a clown show. And with a sumptuous backstage area bigger than your average classroom. But really, it’s just another day and another show. And we only have the one today, which also makes it almost a holiday. A chilled morning and into early afternoon, a lovely drive out to do this one show, then that’s it for the day. Oh, and we also have a phone radio interview in the evening to get through in Spanish as well. But guess what? Been there done that too. And far longer and live to the nation, including a live session, and with Mexico’s own media personality Maria Letona. So here we are today. Tuesday November 11, Mexico City. Just another day, literally, in the park.
So yeah, we go do that 45 minute late afternoon gig at a venue called Utopia Olini and of course we give it everything and sweat and engage the audience. This is about two classrooms’ worth of children with the assorted sprinkled parent. The day’s main assignment done, we make the drive back to Coyocan, timed perfectly to take the call for the radio interview with the very generous and entertaining Rey Cruz on Expresiones 100.5FM.
This time it is very much of the variety for which we were prepared all that time ago before our date with Maria. How did you form, what are your influences, what shows have you done, what shows will you do. Easy. Ten minutes, Richard helping out with the Spanish to include Maja, and that’s it. All done. Bar?
